Lynn spent over 20 years as a professional actor-singer before turning to community arts work long ago when her children were babies. She currently splits her time between running community theatre and singing workshops; story-telling and creative writing (having this year successfully completed an MA)
Lynn is a member of the Natural Voice Network and runs the Ickworth Larks (for National Trust staff and volunteers) and a singing-for-fun group at Westhorpe Village Hall as part of Suffolk Artlink’s ‘Make, Do & Friends’ programme.
True to NVN ideals, her singing workshops are ‘no dots, no solos, no experience required’ sessions celebrating the joy and positive vibes of singing together. It’s all about harmony!
We continue to enjoy our singing workshops, held on a Saturday morning or
afternoon in the Boxted & Hartest Instititute. They take place about 5 times a year
and are advertised locally in CONTACT magazine and posters.
These are community, not- for- profit and self- funding events, open to all and for all
Our workshop leaders come from the Woodbridge and Cambridge areas at present.
The great thing is that participants do not need to have any musical knowledge or to
be able to read music. Everything is taught by ear, and new each session we learn a
variety of songs from Britain and around the world, singing in rounds or harmony.
Somehow our leaders always manage to get the group to sound fantastic, and the
sessions are sociable, fun and serious at the same time!
