Everyone in the village is invited to join us in All Saints Church on Armistice Sunday, 11th November for an afternoon of remembrance and celebration on the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.
Plans are provisionally as follows:
3-4pm. The Bell Tower will be open for those who'd like to try their hand at bell-ringing under the guidance of our Bell captain Stephen Stone. Please come along if you're interested.
4pm onwards: The Friends of Hartest Church are hosting a tea party in the Church. Everyone is welcome. Contributions of sandwiches, cakes, sausage rolls will be very welcome. Please let Mo Rocknean know if you can bring something.
5pm onwards: There will be music and singing and readings: the organist Rodney Bullock has kindly offered to play- and the Choir will be taking part. We will distribute songsheets so that everyone can join in. Anyone wanting to read or be involved in any way, please get in touch with John Kemp or Sarah Howell or Gill Leeming, or come along on the Saturday afternoon 10th November 2-4pm.
Displays of memorabilia: During the afternoon some residents will be showing displays of their own personal family memorabilia of those who served in battle. If you'd like to take part, please bring your displays to the Church on Saturday 10th between 2-3. Also on display will be Graham Manning's book of obituaries published in Contact from 2014-2018 about the 17 men who died and are named on the War Memorial. Please let Sarah Howell or Gill Leeming know in advance if possible.
At 6pm, drinks for everyone
At 7pm there will be a nationwide bell ringing in which Hartest Church is taking part
Do please be in touch if you'd like to help and/or take part in any way. Together with the PCC, the Friends of Hartest Church, the Parish Council, the Choir and the Bell ringers we hope to make this a memorable day for the village.
