The Eastern Angles Theatre Company are coming to the Boxted and Hartest Institute on Friday 4th May.
A resume of the play is as follows:-
The show is called Guesthouse and is about 3 generations of Women who live in and run Essex sea side Guesthouse. Val is a diabetic and is struggling to keep on top of the demands of running the guesthouse that has been in her late husband’s family for generations. She has always tried to do her best for those around her, despite what life has thrown at them, but Val can be proud, manipulative and, at times, deeply insensitive, especially when she feels vulnerable. A loving surrogate mother to her granddaughter Chloe, Val struggles to come to terms with her daughter’s mental illness and the events that contributed to it. Lisa is Val’s estranged daughter. Lisa has come to a crossroads in her life where concerns over her mother’s health, the breakdown of her marriage and unresolved issues around her lack of a relationship with her daughter, have all led her to want to reconnect with her family and re-examine the events of her past.
Although she is sometimes overwhelmed, Lisa is determined to fight for a different kind of future for herself. Finally Chloe is Lisa’s daughter, Chloe works in London in Arts admin but has begun to wonder if all the things she
thought she wanted, and all the things she’d thought that she would do with her life are really that important to her. Resentful and jealous of Lisa, Chloe has never been able to process the emotions that stem from her sense of being abandoned by her mother. Fiercely protective of Val, Chloe feels cast adrift in her own life.
