If you belong to a community group, sports group or social club and have plenty of ‘Big’ ideas on how to make a real difference in your

village, why not book an appointment at our forthcoming community project funding surgery?

With support from Babergh District Council, Suffolk County Council's external funding team is coming to Hadleigh on Tuesday 28 February 2012

with the purpose of helping community groups investigate their project ideas.

So whether you've got initial or more developed ideas on community projects ranging from health, heritage, tourism, countryside, arts,

community care, events, environment or sports, why not take the opportunity to present and discuss them at a pre-booked appointment?

Ideally we’re looking to meet with groups who have plans or ideas relating to projects that will make a real impact in their local community.

We’ve developed 7 appointments throughout the day, so you and a colleague can informally discuss your community project ideas.

Friday 2^nd March 7.30pm –Boxted and Hartest Institute,Hartest.

Written by Eastern Angles’ Artistic Director, Ivan Cutting. An emotional wartime drama focusing on the lives of one East Anglian Family. The play is an intriguing ‘what-if’ scenario exploring how Britain would have coped with an enemy invasion. This will appeal to a broad Audience from age approximately 11years upwards.

High school teacher, Rainer Wegner, may be popular with the students, but he's also unorthodox. He's forced to teach autocracy for the school's project week. He's less than enthusiastic at first, but the response of the students is surprising to say the least. He forces the students to become more invested in the prospect of self rule, and soon the class project has its own power and eerily starts to resemble Germany's past. Can Wegner and his class realize what's happening before the horrors start repeating themselves?

To lead us in the workshop we are delighted to welcome back Sue Parlby, a founder member of the Natural Voice Practitioners Network. Sue runs workshops, Good Vibrations Community Choir in Cambridge, and arranges songs and sings with Far Flung Voices, a cappella quartet.

Sue will teach songs from different vocal traditions to get your toes tapping and luxuriate in delicious harmony. There will be no need to read music as all the songs will be taught by ear.

In Bruges (2008)

London based hit men Ray and Ken are told by their boss Harry Waters to lay low in Bruges, Belgium for up to two weeks following their latest hit, which resulted in the death of an innocent bystander. Harry will be in touch with further instructions. While they wait for Harry's call, Ken, following Harry's advice, takes in the sights of the medieval city with great appreciation. But the charms of Bruges are lost on the simpler Ray, who is already despondent over the innocent death, especially as it was his first job. Things change for Ray when he meets Chloe, part of a film crew shooting a movie starring an American dwarf named Jimmy. When Harry's instructions arrive, Ken, for whom the job is directed, isn't sure if he can carry out the new job, especially as he has gained a new appreciation of life from his stay in the fairytale Bruges.

The WI will be running this Jumble Sale so please set aside any useful things for us to sell. There will be a raffle and refreshments including sale of delicious home-made cakes. Sorry, we cannot accept any electricals (and preferably no unwashed underwear or socks!!). Either drop off your jumble at the hall on the day from midday onwards or contact Lynn – 830987 to arrange drop off before the day.

Farmers Market

The market is held on the first Saturday of every month 10:00am - 12:30pm, at Pear Tree Farm (about a mile outside Hartest going towards Bury St Edmunds).

It has a very friendly atmosphere and you can have a cup of coffee, a bacon roll or a slice of homemade cake and meet your friends.

You will find stalls selling organic vegetables, pork and beef, plants, bread from Lavenham Bakery, apple juice, cakes, jams, pickles and marmalade, local honey. Most months there are new stalls to tempt you to spend your money.

MIDSUMMER CONCERT IN HARTEST CHURCH on SATURDAY 23 JUNE ...SAVE THE DATE!

There will be a concert of wonderful music given by Churchgate Sinfonia at 6.30 on Saturday 23 June in Hartest Church. This will be preceded by cream teas on the Green. More details will follow. All monies raised will go towards the Friends of Hartest Church Fabric Fund.
