The Christmas lunch for pensioners and those living alone in Hartest, Boxted & Somerton took place on Saturday 10^th December in The Crown. It was attended by 73 people with 6 further people receiving their meal delivered to their home.

Our sincere thanks go to Hanne and her staff who produced an excellent Christmas lunch with all the trimmings. Thanks also go to those who gave donations and raffle prizes.

Stella began this event over 50 years ago and by coincidence it was her birthday this year so there was hearty singing of “Happy Birthday” and presentation of a floral display.

Sadly, this may prove to be the last time for this meal unless we can find more people to form a committee to organise the fund raising events. We have to raise in the region of £1000 over the year and this is proving harder each year. If anyone is willing to take on the task for next year, please contact Stella (830337) or Val (830450)
